PATRICK J. MARKEY specializes in commercial litigation primarily in the areas of intellectual property, construction, and commercial disputes. He has extensive trial experience in both state and federal courts. Since entering private practice, Mr. Markey has built upon his experience, effectively resolving numerous commercial disputes through negotiated settlements and trials.

Prior to joining O'Shea Getz, Mr. Markey was a shareholder in Robinson Donovan P.C. in Springfield, Massachusetts. From 2004-2010, he served on the Springfield City Council and from 2004-2006, while maintaining private practice, he was Chief Legal Counsel to the City of Springfield. From 1993-1997, Mr. Markey served as a trial attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice and in 1996, he was a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia. Upon graduating with honors from Georgetown in 1992, Mr. Markey was a Law Clerk to the Honorable Edward F. Harrington, United States District Judge for the District of Massachusetts.

  • In re Semiconductor Integrated Circuits Using Tungsten Metallization, Inv. No. 337-TA-648 (2008): represented Micronas GmbH before the United States International Trade Commission in a patent infringement investigation initiated by LSI Corporation relating to contact metallization in semiconductor devices.
  • Excel Dryer, Inc. v. American Dryer, Inc. (D. Mass. 2007): represented American Dryer, Inc. in a patent litigation involving high speed hand dryers.
  • MG Ahrens Associates, Limited v. BabyZone.com, Inc. (D. Mass. 2008): represented MG Ahrens Limited, a New Zealand internet content provider, in a lawsuit involving breach of an intellectual property licensing agreement.
  • Webster Engineering Co., Inc. v. Invisible Structures et al. (Suffolk County Business Law Session 2004): represented Invisible Structures, Inc., a Colorado manufacturer of underground water detention systems, in a case alleging construction defects at a biologic products manufacturing facility affiliated with the University of Massachusetts.
  • Noble Environmental Power v. Berkshire Wind Power et al., (D. Mass. 2008): represented Noble Environmental Power, Inc., a renewable energy company and developer of wind parks across the nation in a breach of contract action relating to development of wind farm in Berkshire County, Massachusetts.
  • Massachusetts Interlocal Insurance Association v. Munich re America f/k/a American Reinsurance (D. Mass. 2009): represented MIA in court and at arbitration against a reinsurer in a case which alleged that the reinsurer breached the terms of a reinsurance treaty.
  • Marjorie Wylde et al. v. Charles Fox et al. (Mass. Land Court 2006): represented developer through Land Court trial in a case where abutters appealed from a town planning board's approval of his subdivision plan.
